The NHS is 60!!
Wayne David MP and Jeff Cuthbert AM thank NHS staff and look to the future

The NHS is celebrating its 60th birthday and to mark this occasion Wayne David MP and Jeff Cuthbert AM  will be leading tributes to the NHS's dedicated and hard working staff. The local Caerphilly politicians will also remember Aneurin Bevan, the founder of the NHS and the former Member of Parliament for Ebbw Vale, who fought tooth and nail to ensure the future generations would have a health service free at the point of delivery.

Speaking ahead of the 60th anniversary, Wayne David and Jeff Cuthbert said "One of the main reasons we were elected was to fight for the NHS in our area. We believe it is one of our country's greatest achievements. A service that is available to all based on need - not on the ability to pay.

"On the 60th anniversary of the NHS we should take time to say thank you to the wonderful staff who look after us when we need care and attention.

"Sixty years since we founded it, Labour is changing the NHS. Our mission is to make the NHS a more personal health service, fitted to the needs of families and focussed on preventing ill health as weel as curing it.

"As your elected representatives we can you this guarantee. We will always fight to improve the NHS in Caerphilly and work to ensure that it is fit for modern life. We believe that the delivery of the new Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr hospital neear Ystrad Mynach is evidence of Labour's proud record, and we intend to build on this."
